Insurance Claims

You faithfully paid your premiums year after year, now you need to file a claim. Question is, How does this all work and who can help me? Well, below is some basic information about the claims process and how our years of experience helps customers navigate this unfamiliar time in their lives. Big or small we have done it all.

First Things First

  1. Make sure you and your loved ones are safe
  2. Hopefully you took your agents advice and documented your belongings in a video or photos which can now be retrieved for any questions regarding damage.
  3. Contact your agent to alert them of your circumstances. You have likely been with them for years, they will be your point of contact to get the process started.
  4. Make sure you have your home secured from theft or any additional damage (This is generally done by a remediation company but we can help out here when needed).
  5. Review your policy and make sure you are aware of all of your coverages and any limitations.
  6. An Adjuster will be assigned to assess your claim. They will be identifying the damage and what the insurance company will cover. They will tell you that it is your choice for contractors to estimate and renovate the damage. Make sure you work with a company that has the experience listed below or you may wind up with lots of headaches. Insurance claim involve a lot of additional players (Agents, Adjusters, Mortgage lenders, etc...) and processes that a general construction project doesn't. We want to get you back in your home and back to normal living as soon as possible. Letting an inexperienced contractor do the work may lengthen this process and you wind up with less than you wanted.

Our Role

We have over 20 years of partnering with homeowners to lead their insurance clams to a successful conclusion. We not only understand the aspects of construction to return you back to normal as soon as possible, but we also understand the smaller nuances of an insurance claim. Things like

  • Understanding the necessary remediation that is required prior to initiating renovation.
  • Working to build estimates (typically in Xactimate) that are in alignment with the insurers guidelines.
  • Identifying commonly overlooked aspects of say having a fire where there may be no actual fire damage to an item, but there is possibly hidden smoke damage behind things like unsealed cabinets.
  • Working within the approved insurance payment to get you the highest quality renovation possible.
  • Undertaking every effort to get you back in to your home as quickly as possible. We seek to reduce your inconvenience and the overall claim payout for things such as housing costs, content storage costs, and other nontypical items.
  • We strive to identify as much of the overall project in the initial stages of the estimating to help eliminate change orders or unexpected expenses once we do get started.
  • Coordination with mortgage lenders to make sure payments happen timely and reducing potential delays in project completion.

Our Commitment

We commit to being your partner through the entire process; from initially securing your home from further damage, providing you the best estimate for renovation, working hand in hand with the Adjuster, communication with your mortgage lender, and providing the utmost quality. You can lean on us.
